Site update, power outage, new figure

It's the first day of spring for this year, and I'm happy that winter is finally over! I don't mind the season since it makes the holidays feel a little more festive, but then it overstays its welcome, and it's too cold, and it's too dark, and it's so miserable. This seems like the most snow (and especially ice) I've experienced in my area in quite awhile, and maybe it's not that abnormal, just kind of unusual for me. I've been feeling a lot better lately, and it's mostly because it's been nice outside.

I initially felt kind of "silly" for spending time on things that I thought were pointless, but I'm trying to change my mindset. I recently looked around online for threads of other people with this same experience, and I found one reply that said, "That's just the capitalism trying to bear down on you. Just ignore it and remind yourself that it's a hobby and you deserve to have it." I kind of scoffed in my mind at that because I thought it was a little over the top, but when I brought it up to one of my friends, they had to break the news to me. I honestly should have put the pieces together when I've said before how I felt bad if my hobbies weren't profitable or setting up my future self for some sort of success since that's such a tell tale sign of that sort of ideology. I knew that my "break" from working on my website to do something "more productive" wouldn't be that long, but I couldn't even go 5 days without messing around with my files and code. I'm pretty satisfied with this site update, especially the favorites section on the webmistress tab since I've wanted to do something in that style for awhile, and it's a lot better than the old table I had. I'll just update my site whenever I want to since I was definitely overthinking it before.

I really have been enjoying the change in weather and can't wait for the rainy season, though it stormed really bad earlier this week and caused a major power outage. Of course, my area had to get the worst of it, so there was no power here for a few days. I kept thinking how it could have been a lot worse— at least it wasn't too cold outside and that I wasn't all alone (for the entirety of it, anyway), and I'm thankful that my family owns a generator. The service was also down for a bit, so I spent most of this time reading and watching various things. I initially had all of my thoughts here, but I moved it to my media log (Other > Assorted Media vol. 1) since I wrote waaay too much.

While the power was out, I put together my figure (pictured above) that I received a couple of days before. I have this habit of waiting to open my packages from the post office until I get other things done, which is why I didn't have this figure displayed sooner. Isn't it cute! I tried cancelling my pre-order not too long after the purchase because I felt guilty for spending my money for something like this, but I missed the window for the cancellation to go through, and I'm kind of glad that I ended up getting it. I've been a fan of Ib since before I even reached double digits in age, and it has a very special place in my heart. I'm so thankful that the game has had a lot of official merchandise releases—I used to always stare at the Garry trading "figure" from 2014 and end up heartbroken over how rare he was, but now I have this diorama!

Don't forget to look at my media log (if you haven't already) for the full experience to this entry (if you want), and take care!

Listening to: Tine Thing Helseth - Libertango

Many don't know that I adore orchestral music. I recently discovered this one through the "the trumpet literally possessed her" video and thought it was really fascinating!
